Kings Langley joint-boss Ritchie Hanlon believes some teams are beaten before they even face the Premier Division leaders, who sent out a chilling title warning by hitting nine unanswered goals this week.

A 5-0 home win over Harefield United was followed up a by a crushing 4-0 victory at Hadley on Wednesday evening as Kings opened up an eight-point lead at the summit.

Second-placed AFC Dunstable lost to St Margaretsbury on Saturday and were not in action in midweek, meaning Kings still have two games in hand on their nearest title rivals.

“I think it has got to the point now where some teams are beaten before they even face us,” Hanlon said. “The more we win the more the other teams won’t catch us.”

Reflecting on two thumping victories in five days, Hanlon said: “We have taken our chances more in these last two games than we did against Colney Heath three weeks ago. Last time we lost in the league was against Dunstable at the beginning of January, so it has been a great response.

“Hadley are a very good team and their league position is a little bit false. The boys were just on it from moment one.”

Kings went ahead after 11 minutes against Hadley, with Alex Campana reaching 18 for the season by firing in after seeing his initial effort blocked.

Danny Hutchins – two goals behind on 16 – doubled the lead in the 25th minute with his sixth penalty in as many outings as the visitors took control.

And it was a similar story after the break as Mitchell Weiss scored twice in seven minutes to draw level with Campana at the top of the club’s goal-scoring charts.

Weiss’ first goal was a stooping header and the second a powerful effort after outpacing the home defence.

Four days earlier, Hutchins and Weiss had each claimed braces in the win over Harefield, whilst Dean Hitchcock also got in on the act.

Kings have four games before the month is out, starting with a trip to Cockfosters tomorrow (Saturday) and a visit from Hoddesdon Town on Tuesday, but Hanlon has no fears over the freshness of his side.

He said: “We are getting to a stage where everyone wants to play, which can only be good for us.

“Last week we played in the cup against Bedford. We played four Under-18 players and we won 4-0. They (Bedford) are well equipped to come up and they would do well in our league but for 75 minutes we murdered them.

“We have got to try to keep our feet on the ground,” Langley’s joint-manager added.

Third-placed Sun Sports show no signs of throwing in the towel and beat Cockfosters 4-0 on Saturday to maintain their title interest.

Sun are still ten points behind Kings but have played a game less than AFC Dunstable.

First-half goals from Scott Bonner and James Armstrong were added to by Gary Wallace’s first of the season and Nathan Kelly’s first for the club after the restart.

Paul Hobbs’ side have two home games in four days, with Holmer Green visiting tomorrow and Berkhamsted on Tuesday.

Oxhey Jets were not in action this week. Wayne Gladdy’s side host AFC Dunstable tomorrow before making the trip to Ampthill Town on Tuesday evening.

Berkhamsted have reached the final of the Premier Division Cup for the second consecutive season after beating Holmer Green 4-2 on Tuesday.

Courtney Massay opened the scoring with a curling effort before Adiel Mannion doubled the lead ten minutes later.

Holmer Green got one back from the penalty spot only for the Comrades to re-instate their two-goal advantage before half time thanks to Steve Hawes’ header.

Lewis Rodrigoe scored a superb effort in the second half and although the visitors pulled another back, Mick Vipond’s side were already safely through to face Colney Heath in the final.

Berko blew a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Hoddesdon Town on Saturday, with efforts from Massay and BJ Christie overturned.

The Comrades host Wembley tomorrow before making the trip to Sun Postal Sports on Tuesday.

Tring Athletic are five games without victory after they went down 2-1 at Hadley on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0, a late surge from Julian Robinson’s side yielded a consolation goal for Taylor Collins.

But Athletic were unable to take the point they arguably deserved from what has traditionally been an unhappy hunting ground for the club.

Stotfold visit Cow Lane tomorrow as Tring look to buck their recent trend of results.

Leverstock Green were beaten for the ninth time in nine league and cup fixtures on Saturday when they went down 2-1 at Hertford Town.

Tommy Walsh netted in the 79th minute for Levy but Dene Gardner’s side were already 2-0 down by that stage.

Levy hosted Holmer Green yesterday (Thursday) and make the trip to Harefield United tomorrow before Hadley visit Pancake Lane on Tuesday.
