Kings Langley's lead at the Premier Division summit was stretched to 13 points this week as they picked up maximum points whilst those beneath them faltered.

Ritchie Hanlon and Paul Hughes’ side also have a game in hand on Sun Sports and AFC Dunstable, the two sides immediately below them in second and third respectively.

Dunstable, previously second, garnered a solitary point during the week, losing to St Margaretsbury on Tuesday after drawing with Oxhey Jets on Saturday to surrender more ground on the leaders.

Kings beat Hoddesdon Town 3-2 on Tuesday and drew first blood when Tom Carter finished a left-wing run by cutting inside and unleashing a fierce shot into the far corner after 19 minutes.

Two minutes into the second period Kings doubled their lead. Mitchell Weiss seized on a loose ball and fed Alex Campana to angle in the hosts’ second.

And three minutes later it appeared to be game over as skipper Nick Jackson thumped home a close-range volley after Weiss saw his header cleared off the line.

But Hoddesdon refused to throw in the towel and were rewarded for their endeavour when Dan Udoh and Kevin Metivier scored in the final 12 minutes to reduce the deficit.

On Saturday Kings made considerably lighter work of Cockfosters, cruising to a 4-1 away win.

Campana struck first, prodding home from Danny Hutchins’ cross in the 17th minute. Campana bagged a second shortly after the hour, volleying home superbly.

However, Cockfosters pulled one back three minutes later, only for Weiss to scored Kings’ 100th league goal of the season. He then added a fourth after latching onto Campana’s through ball.

Kings travel to Wembley tomorrow (Saturday) before hosting local rivals Berkhamsted on Tuesday evening at Gaywood Park.

Sun Sports have taken full advantage of Dunstable’s wobble to move back into second on goal difference.

Paul Hobbs’ side were well-beaten on Tuesday evening though, losing 5-1 at home to a rampant Berkhamsted side.

BJ Christie gave the Comrades the lead with a perfectly-placed lob before Adiel Mannion fired home a second from near the penalty spot.

Scott Bonner got one back for Sun before the break, heading home from a corner to reduce the arrears.

But the home side could not build on that lifeline. Mannion and Christie both helped themselves to second goals to put Berko 4-1 ahead, with Christie again lobbing Ross Hampton.

Lewis Rodrigoe added the fifth by connecting with a Courtney Massay free-kick having come off the bench.

Sun had been 1-0 winners over Holmer Green on Saturday, Nathan Pooley scoring the game’s only goal.

Tomorrow Sun make the trip to Stotfold before visiting London Tigers on Tuesday evening.

Oxhey Jets’ five-game unbeaten run was ended 2-1 at Ampthill Town on Tuesday.

Wayne Gladdy levelled six minutes after Jets fell behind but the home side found a second-half winner.

On Saturday, Gladdy’s men did Kings Langley a favour by coming from behind to draw 2-2 with title outsiders AFC Dunstable, finishing with nine men.

With a number of first-team players on holiday and Gladdy unable to attend with illness, a below-strength side secured a point via Lee Armitt and Tyler Connor.

Stand-in goalkeeper Davis Boateng and Jamie Speer were both dismissed, with forward Luke Beardsworth starring between the sticks.

Jets travel to Biggleswade United tomorrow before heading to Cockfosters on Tuesday.

Berkhamsted picked up an impressive 3-1 win over promotion-chasing Wembley on Saturday, with goals from Mannion (2) and Jamie Gavin.

Mick Vipond’s side host Hillingdon Borough tomorrow.

Tring Athletic enjoyed their first win in six on Saturday, crushing Stotfold 6-1.

Kieron Turner scored a hat-trick, with Christopher Vardy, Greg Deer and Taylor Collins all chipping in.

Julian Robinson’s side are at Leverstock Green tomorrow, who themselves hit six in hammering Hadley 6-2 on Tuesday.

Louis Bircham, Mark Woolley, Elias Moses, Luke Warner-Ely, Billy Smith and Carl McCluskey all hit the target.

On Saturday Levy lost 3-1 at Harefield United, with Bircham getting their consolation from the penalty spot.
