Two primary schools from the Watford area have qualified for the Hertfordshire School Games finals rugby competition after coming out on top against 19 other schools at Fullerians Rugby Club.

St Paul’s Church of England School ran out Three Rivers and Watford School Sports Partnership champions and sealed their county finals place alongside beaten finalists Abbots Langley.

Forty-six teams from 21 schools across the region took part, with young leaders from St Clement Danes, St Joan of Arc and Rickmansworth refereeing the matches after completing leadership training with Saracens Sport Foundation.

Sam Berry, School Games Organiser, said after the event: “It is great to see so many children enjoying their rugby this afternoon in really good spirit. The leaders were excellent throughout and contributed to a really successful day.

“Thanks to the Saracens Sport Foundation for their work alongside the sports leaders and co-ordinating the event. Good luck to St Paul’s and Abbots Langley at the county finals.”
