Fullerians stayed top of London North West Three after an 18-18 draw at second-placed Belsize Park on Saturday.

Fullers head coach Rich Hoskins said: “It was a good game and the lads played well. Belsize haven’t lost at home since September 2013 and they almost did today.

“The referee had a good game under a lot of pressure from the home crowd but we learned another lesson is that you always keep playing until the whistle. We have two games left which is in our hands now to win the league.”

The visitors made a fast start and almost scored an early try. But they did not have to wait long for one as when their scrum pushed forward second row Liam Boyd went over for his 12th try of the season.

Fullers extended their lead further with a Craig Duncan penalty after Belsize didn’t release in the tackle.

The home side got on the scoresheet when they went through the phases and were awarded a penalty.

Shortly before the break centre Liam Mann used his pace to go around the covering defence and linked well with wing Ben Meyers who almost scored in the corner. However the hosts were caught offside and Duncan fired over the three points to stretch their lead to 13-3.

Belsize Park scored a deserved try in the corner after good work from their backline.

Fullers were then penalised for not rolling away from the tackle which enabled the hosts to move within two points.

But Fullerians responded strongly and ran half the length of the pitch for second row Sam Perry to crash over from short range for an 18-11 advantage with six minutes to play.

It looked like this would be enough for a precious away win but Belsize Park left it late to draw level. A converted try was enough to square the contest at 18-18.

Fullers, who host Wasps this weekend, had the last attack of the match but could not cross the line as they stayed four points clear at the top of the table.
