League-leaders Watford Ladies Under-13 Hornets brushed aside second-placed Hoddesdon Owls 10-1.

Watford’s Ciara Purdue opened the scoring with the first of her four goals and a cracking strike from Kelsey Mugford extended the lead.

Two more from Purdue and a brace from Charli O’Connor gave Watford a comfortable 6-0 lead at half time.

Hoddesdon came out firing on all cylinders after the break but some fine goalkeeping by Jolie Slater prevented them from trying to stage a recovery before Watford got back into their stride with another superb solo goal by Mugford.

Rebecca Lovelace made it eight for the Hornets and O’Connor’s second increased their lead further. Hoddesdon’s Ellie Smith pulled one back before Purdue’s fourth rounded off the win.

The Under-15 Hornets fell at the final hurdle as they were beaten 2-1 by Hitchin Belles in the Herts County Cup final, whilst the Under-15 Harts suffered a 10-1 defeat at the feet of St Albans. Louise Chick scored the Harts’ consolation.

In the younger age groups, there was an the intra-club derby between the Under-11 Hornets and Harts.

First blood went to the Hornets as a cross from Catherine Reeves was deflected into the net by the Harts’ defence.

The Harts rose to the challenge and netted twice before the break courtesy of Millie Tugby and Emily Rollinger.

In the second half Harts goalkeeper Paige Rusher saved a penalty from Kayra Karakus but she made up for it with a great solo effort soon afterwards.
