Watford Sunday League Round-up

Terry Devereux WSFL President’s Cup Final

Rifle Volunteer shot down Oakview in a penalty shoot-out to lift the President’s Cup following a 1-1 draw in normal time.

The ever-reliable Lewis Putman had struck to put Oakview in front, with Wayne Jackson on target for Rifle in regulation time.

However, penalties were required to separate the two sides, Rifle prevailing 4-3 from 12 yards to deny Oakview a league and cup double, although they could secure it in the Challenge Cup Final.

Premier Division

St Josephs moved into second place by picking up four points from a double header against Mill End Sports.

With Oakview having already wrapped up the league title, Joes sit a point clear of third-placed Oxhey Estates following a win and a draw.

First Joes breezed past Mill End 4-1, with the goals coming from Bradley Wadkins and a Joe Kelly hat-trick. Jordan Robinson replied for Mill End.

The second game was a more even affair, with the two sides sharing six goals in a 3-3 draw.

Mark Brownsell (2) and Daryl Craft netted for Mill End, with Sam Clark (2) and Joe Kelly the St Josephs marksmen.

Division One

Hammer moved level on points with top-of-the-table Reed Rangers but know their destiny is out of their hands.

The leaders have three games more than Hammer left to play and will need to slip up in order to miss out on more silverware following Sunday’s County Cup success (see above).

A 4-1 win at Croxley FC pulled Hammer level, the goals coming from Jamie Tyas, Richard Eames, Chris Wells and John Smith.

Green Dragon were awarded a win after hosts Nascot Arms failed to field a team.

Division Two

Leaders Amici FC missed out on the chance to secure the title after going down 3-0 at RD FC.

They remain top but with no more league fixtures remaining they are just three points ahead of Oxhey Lions in second. Oxhey have a goal difference of +35 – five less than Amici’s with a game still to play.

Efforts from Elliot Myrants-Wilson (2) and Chris Fisher Rayner sealed the win for RD.

Oxhey’s own title hopes were hindered as they could only manage a 1-1 draw at Croxley FC Reserves.

Ben Woodman sealed a point for the visitors with Jamie Dunlop on target for Croxley.

Langleybury Cricket Club made light work of Met Police (Bushey), breezing to a 5-0 win.

Leading 1-0 at the break, efforts from Josh Binks, Mark Edgar, Jamie Madden, Greg Cook and an own goal sealed the victory.

Division Three

Carpenders Park Rangers have sealed promotion and the championship after crushing Railway Arms 8-0 away from home.

A four-point lead over second-placed AFC Oddfellows means the leaders can no longer be caught.

Bradley Brunt (2), Will Wilson, Andy Avis (4) and Steve Barton secured the title in fine style.

Oddfellows could only draw 2-2 at home to Woodlands United, ending their title tilt.

Gary Hennicke and Calvin Brandy both found the back of the net for the hosts, with Craig Hepworth hitting a double in reply for United.

North Watford eked out a 1-0 win at Dome Bar Area thanks to Ryan Fisken’s second-half strike.

Racing Santandome and West Watford shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw; Dean McKane the Racing marksman.

Division Four

Champions Wellington Arms wrapped up their season in style, cruising to a 5-1 win at Sun Postal Sports.

Simeon Armstong (2), Mark Coffey, Jordan Sibthorp and George Baker all netted for Arms. Louis Hakner replied for Sun.

The Swan tamed Green Dragon Reserves by picking up a 6-1 away win.

Vilson Culaj (2), Leo Kokaj (2) and Vaz Urgo were all on target for the visitors. Ryan Carter notched for Green Dragon.
