Kevin Johnson has promised Watford’s Anthony Joshua the toughest night of his career when the two meet at the O2 Arena in London this month.

Johnson (29-6-1) and Joshua (11-0) will go toe-to-toe on Saturday, May 30 live on Sky and the American claims the 25-year-old has “something missing”, insisting he has no fear of his opponent’s perfect KO record or Olympic gold medal.

Joshua, who lived on the Meriden Estate in Garston, has an MBE and has stopped each of his opponents so far inside three rounds.

The experienced Johnson, who is looking to buck that trend, said: “I’ve trained for so long for this fight and I have got that hunger back.

“Anthony is so big that the KO is going to look so good.”

Johnson arrived in the UK last week to begin his preparations for the fight and will be in attendance when Joshua meets Raphael Zumbano Love (36-10-1) in Birmingham on Saturday, May 9, also live on Sky.

The event provides a warm-up for the fight with Johnson, who Joshua was scheduled to face in January before being forced to withdraw after aggravating a back injury.

And former World title challenger Johnson has no doubt which way the bout will go.

He stated: “He is very confident with the start he has made – but I am confident I will knock him out.

“He still has something missing and I hope that no-one fixes it before May 30 because that’s why I am going to knock him out.

“When I was 3-0 I boxed another Olympian and really beat him, because all these Olympians that turn over have one thing missing – I saw it with him and I see it with Joshua.”

The fight comes as part of a big night of action at London’s O2.

Kell Brook tops the card as he defends his IBF World welterweight title against Frankie Gavin, whilst Kevin Mitchell challenge Jorge Linares for the WBC lightweight title and Lee Selby take on IBF featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich.
