Garston Ladies 96 have won the league in emphatic style, sealing the title with a thumping 14-2 win over Broadhall Ladies.

From the off Garston dominated and three goals in quick succession, one a fine header from Ciara Mackintosh, settled the nerves.

Leading 7-0 at the break, Garston’s goal of the season soon followed. A neat move which involved nine of the ten outfield players started from a short goal kick and ended two minutes later with a simple tap-in.

Lauren Berryman scored four and Natalie Powell hit a hat-trick, whilst Mackintosh (2), Cassandra Chase, Ella Cowderoy, Dani Freeman and Claire Weekes all got in on the act.

Garston Ladies ended the season in third place following a 1-1 draw against Sandy Ladies. Jo Drury scored Garston’s goal.

The Under-16s were also in prolific form, winning 13-1 against Leighton Park Rangers to head into their League Cup final on a high.

Hat-tricks from Kristal Clarke, Leah Crocket and Jade Roberts were added to by two from Phoebe Yule and Lily Clarke.

For the Under-13 Mets there was County Cup dismay as they lost to Watford Ladies Herts on penalties.

In what was their fourth consecutive final, the Purples were 2-0 up with five minutes to go thanks to strikes from Abbie Lafayette and Abby Reith.

But Watford fought back and forced extra time before triumping 5-4 from the penalty spot.

The Under-15s continued their fine form with a 2-0 win over Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday, the goals coming from Jemima Dawkins and Amy Robb.

And they followed that victory up on Tuesday evening with a double header against St Albans North. The first game ended in a disappointing 3-0 loss for Garston but they showed great character to bounce back with a 4-0 win thanks to a Jemima Dawkins haul in the second.

The Under-14s cruised to a 4-1 success over St Albans North; a brace from Holly Chappell and singles from Frankie Yasmin Sabri and Emily Downey doing the damage.

On Tuesday evening they went one better, crushing St Albans South 5-1. Sabri (2), Downey, Frankie Culloty and Katie Farrell were all on target.

The Under-12 Mets hit Comet Sports for five. Issie Smith, Nicole Zermani, Paige Andrews, Sharday Constable and an own goal ensured victory for Garston.

Sister team the Under-12 Diamonds took on Harpenden Colts in their penultimate league match of the season but were undone 4-1, despite Aimee Trainis’ opener.
