A judo club from Watford celebrated winning six medals at the orange belt and below competition at Samurai judo club in Kidderminster.

Iruka Judokwai, which is based at Watford Field Junior School, sent the group to compete with five members helping them come away their medal haul.

Adeola Akin overcame a much bigger opponent to win gold in the girls 0-3 mon grade group five competition. Imaan Shah clinched first place in the girls (4-9 mon) group one at Under-32 kg and also claimed a silver medal in the group two edition which was at the Under-36 kg level.

Ben Shannon won silver in the 0-3 mon group one category while there were bronze medals for Thomas Shannon (4-9 mon group ten) and Harry Shannon (group nine). It was the first competition for Ben and Thomas Shannon.

Iruka Judokwai recently held their presentation evening and handed out a number of awards.

Brendan McGee won the Iruka Cup while Shah won the competition shield for most points gained in the last year.

Akin was named the club player which was awarded for regular attendance and all-round hard work.

The most improved player went to Hayat Butt and the Tony Ball Cup went to George Down.

Rory Akers received the Renteq Trophy for the player with the best technical knowledge and experience.

The perseverance certificate went to Connor Teefy snf Lucia Pini.

The club runs junior sessions for eight to 15 year olds on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6.15pm to 7.45pm.

Senior sessions are also held for anyone aged 16 and over on the same nights between 8pm and 9.30pm.
