Garston 800m runner Kyle Langford recorded a season’s best at his Diamond League debut in Birmingham by finishing seventh out of eight.
It looked as if the Great Britain athlete was going to be in contention at one stage of the Birmingham Grand Prix on Sunday but he was closed in with 400m remaining near the back of the pack.
Langford’s time of 1.48.20 was, however, good enough for the 19-year-old to grab his best of the season behind the winner, Botswana’s Nijel Amos.
