Northwood Seconds claimed a 58-run victory over Wormley in Division Six A.

Asked to bat first, Northwood posted a total of 151 in 42 overs.

Nigel Hussey scored 28 and Ranjit Latchman contributed 39 while the tail wagged to take them up to a competitive total.

Wormley were never in it in reply with Ram Nandiraju taking five for 18 and Jahanzeb Rizvi claiming five for 19 as they were skittled out for 93 in 39.1 overs.

Kings Langley Seconds lost their momentum at the top of their division after being held by Old Finchleians Seconds.

Their draw could have been blamed on poor availability but the side never got into the game as they began by failing to take any early wickets.

The tail was cleared up by Duane Smith (five for 62) and Scott Rolfe also grabbed three wickets as Old Finchleians finish on 237 for nine.

But in reply a half-hearted innings followed.

Andrew Colquhoun (44), Tim Piper (39) and Rolfe (26) did their best but the game petered out with Kings giving up the chase on 163 for seven.

Abbots Langley Seconds slumped to an eight-wicket defeat to Old Haberdashers in Division Six B.

Their slide down the table continued against a decent bowling attack in dismal conditions at Croxdale Road. Some positives were the mature batting of Harry Khan (43) and some fine hitting from captain John Battams, which allowed Abbots to reach 161 all out in 52.4 overs.

However some wayward bowling cost Abbots any hope of victory, although Andrew Rueth, bowling a tidy spell, took both wickets to fall and Battams bowled well without reward.

Ultimately though, Old Habs had few problems in reaching the target for the loss of two wickets in 29.2 overs.

Northwood Town Seconds had the pairing of Ravi Ramawat and Jamie Cotton to thank as they could only draw with Waltham Cross Rosedale Seconds in Division Eight A.

The duo made 117 in a decent first innings as the visitors scored 212 before they were dimissed in 53 overs.

In response, Jack Daly and Sajid Malik opened impressively with the ball and with Chandana Silva and Shameer Syed also chipping in, Town carved through the top order, leaving the hosts on 46 for five.

But the hosts continued to hit with aggression and resistance and held off going into the last few overs.

With nine down, they blocked out the last few balls to hold out for the draw as they reached 194 for nine.

Kings Langley Thirds picked up a draw against Hatfield Hyde Seconds in Division Nine A after a maiden senior 50 for youngster George Langston.

Invited to bat first, Kings stormed to a whopping 260 for five from under 40 overs, losing only five wickets.

Langston (83) and Nauman Hijaz (41) smashed the big numbers – with the latter hitting four sixes – and Russell Knights also struck 37.

Hijaz (three for 58) was on form with the ball too, but Andey Watson (51) kept the score moving, yet his side failed to reach the unlikely target, as they finished on 219 for eight.

Extending their impressive winning streak to six in as many Division Ten B games, Watford Town Thirds thrashed Redbourn Thirds by seven wickets to end their opponents’ 100 per cent record.

Removing Redbourn for just 114, Zirak Khan (three for 23) and Javid Rajpuker (three for 13) were the pick of the bowlers, before they then starred at the crease too.

The drizzly conditions failed to affect the pair as they claimed 28 and 47 not out respectively to reach the target in just 24.2 overs.

Northwood Thirds had to settle for a draw in their game against Botany Bay Thirds.

Batting first, Northwood fought their way to a total of 155 for nine from their innings.

Martin Mendelssohn hit 61 but the rest of the batsmen failed to fire which left the contest in the balance.

Botany Bay threatened to take the points but ended up 14 runs short on 141 for six from 47 overs.

Youngster Paul Reeve caught the eye for Northwood, taking five for 17.
