Steven Finn was involved as England signed off ahead of the Ashes with a comfortable 56-run victory over New Zealand in a one-off Twenty20 international at Old Trafford.

The Watford-born pace bowler did not take any wickets as England built on a 1-1 draw in the Test series and a 3-2 win over the Black Caps in their One-day International series by easing to victory on Tuesday evening.

Finn conceded 29 runs from four overs, to finish with the best economy rate of England’s five bowlers.

However, it was Mark Wood (three for 26) who stole the show along with David Willey (three for 22), the duo tearing through New Zealand’s lower order to clinch the win for Eoin Morgan’s men.

Joe Root (68) had provided the mainstay of the England innings as they posted 191 for seven in their 20 overs.

Quick-fire knocks by Sam Billings (21) and Ben Stokes (24) further down the order enhanced the hosts’ total before New Zealand came into bat.

Kane Williamson (57) and Brendon McCullum (35) were the only Kiwi batsmen to show any real staying power.

And when Luke Ronchi (5) was dismissed by Stokes (two for 24), the tourists quickly collapsed.

They chalked up just 34 more runs as the final five wickets tumbled to give England victory with just 16.2 overs bowled to end their memorable clashes with New Zealand on a high.
