Watford Fencing Club clinched double bronze at the annual Hertfordshire Fencing Association County Team Championship at Hertfordshire University.
The club’s first medal of the day was won by the sabre team of Alice Clark, Claire Raftery, Stephen Thompson and Peter Davies, who ended up in the bronze medal play-off after being defeated by North London Sabre 45-17 in the semi-finals.
However, despite suffering disappointment in the semi-finals, the team was able to regroup and defeat Paul Davis Fencing Academy (PDFA) 45-21 to pick up the third-placed prize.
The second medal of the day came from the foil team comprised of Florent Boyer, Joe Wright and Jacob Hutchins.
After being beaten by a Bryant Blades team which contained former Great Britain squad member Acland Bryant, 45-38 in the semi-finals, Watford again took on and overcame PDFA in the play-off, 45-29.
