Kings Langley were held to a 1-1 draw by ten-man St Ives Town in their first game in the Southern League Division One Central League at Gaywood Park.

New signing Danny May opened the scoring for Kings early on but a Phil Draycott strike midway through the second half earned the visitors a point.

The home side took the lead in the fourth minute. Alex Campana’s corner found its way to May who volleyed past Tim Trebes in the St Ives goal to give the home side the ideal start to life at a higher level.

Not long after St Ives captain Luke Knight saw red after picking up two yellow cards in as many minutes.

May came close to adding a second just before the break but his 25 yard free-kick struck the post.

On the stroke of half-time the visitors thought they were level only for Danny Watson to see his effort ruled out for outside.

Despite Kings pressure, St Ives hung in and got their reward on the hour mark; Draycott's effort from 25 yards flew into the top corner to earn his side a brave point.

Ritchie Hanlon and Paul Hughes' side travel to Beaconsfield SYCOB this evening.
