West Herts started their pre-season with a 7-2 win over Conference West side Guildford.
Despite missing five first-team players, the Stags had no problems easing to victory with four goals from new ladies coach Dan Webster.
The men’s team are hoping to challenge for promotion from the East Conference next season following the summer additions of experienced Jeremy Fort and Will Grbic from Australia.
The Stags’ opening league fixture next month is against Southgate.
West Herts have a busy weekend with a game against Wapping tomorrow before facing Holcombe on Sunday.
The club welcome new members of any standard and are holding an open weekend at the New Field as part of Hockeyfest 2015 during which they will hold trials for ladies on Saturday, August 29 and men on the Sunday.
