Kings Langley failed to make it three consecutive wins on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 at Royston Town in Division One Central of the Southern League.

Ritchie Hanlon and Paul Hughes' men had been buouyed by victories over Chalfont St. Peter and Egham Town last week.

But they could not pick up a third victory on the spin as they narrowly lost out to the previously winless Hertfordshire outfit.

Royston goalkeeper Ron Yates was called into action twice in the opening exchanges to deny visiting Kings the lead.

But it was the home side who went in front against the run of play in the 21st minute when an own goal from Callum Adebiyi found its way past Kings stopper Ant Ladyman.

Rob Mason then doubled Royston's lead on the hour after connecting with Rhys Hoenes' inviting cross.

Kings refused to give in, though, and halved the deficit with five minutes remaining when former Watford scholar Ollie Cox crashed past Yates in the hosts' goal.
