Eric Hand WSFL Challenge Cup Round Two

West Herts caused a surprise in the second round of the Challenge Cup by defeating first division Croxley FC 4-1.

The Division Two side progressed thanks to goals from top scorer Chris Colman, Tom Smith, Jon Gandy and Khodi Cain. Thomas Hughes netted for the home side.

Premier outfit Green Dragon had an easy ride against third division Sun Postal Sports, winning 6-0 with braces from both James Rattray and Lars Burkhardt. Martin Stevens and Luke O'Malley netted the other goals.

Hertsmere (Sunday) entertained fellow Division Three side The Swan and despite a goal from Daniel Francis, lost out 3-1. Mark McLauglin, Pat O'Boyle and Vilson Culaj all scored for the visitors.

Currently languishing at the bottom of Division Three, Cassiobury Revolution achieved perhaps the shock of the day when they defeated established Premier side Rickmansworth Rovers 1-0 courtesy of a strike from Alex McDonald.

League newcomers Ripstone FC and The Compasses were drawn together, the former progressing 5-3 thanks to braces from Matt Elgey and Brendan O'Donoghue and a strike by Matt Sharkey. A goal from Will Stowe plus a brace from Ben Pinder were not enough for the visitors.

Following a goalless first half, Old Fullerians' Charlie Munroe and Daniel Woosley found the net to take them through 2-0 against South Oxhey Labour Club.

St Josephs moved into round three, beating Evergreen with two goals coming from both Jack Read and Joe Kelly.

Losing 3-1 at half time, Evergreen staged a fightback before finally losing out 4-3.

Home side Tudor Vets also went out, losing 5-2 to Reed Rangers.

Grant Renphrey and Jason Blake scored for the Vets as goals from Dom David, Jamie Spencer, Karl Penny, David James plus an own goal saw Rangers through.

Chorleywood Club were in complete control when they visited West Watford as Nick Holden starred with a hat-trick, ably assisted by a brace from Chris May and a strike by Roshan Patel to give their side a 6-0 victory.

Premier Division

Vision United continued their fine run to move into second place with a 3-0 victory over Oxhey Estates.

Goalless at half-time, Cain Davey, Jermaine Davey and Adam Wallace secured the win after the break.

With St Josephs busy on cup duty, Oakview took their opportunity to go clear at the top of the table with a 4-0 win over Rifle Volunteer thanks to two goals from Tom Kennedy and single strikes by Owen Deamer and Anthony Shepherd.

Division One

Gadeside Rangers recorded only their second win of the campaign with a 5-3 victory over Met Police (Bushey) to leapfrog over their opponents.

Two goals from Richard Taylor and a strike by Rob Gradwell were no match for the braces from Gadeside's Owen Maguire and Jay Evans and a goal by Massimo Sinsi.

Mid-table team Oxhey Lions recorded a win against basement side AFC Oddfellows after Luke Beardsworth grabbed two and Steve King rounded off the scoring in a 3-1 victory. Lamar Sy Cyr netted Oddfellows' consolation.

Division Two

Cassiobury Rangers achieved their first win of the season with a 4-2 home victory against Croxley FC Reserves but the result leaves both teams at the wrong end of the division.

Rangers' goals were shared by Joe Mortimer, Jack Henley, Jack Saunders and Jamie McDougall with Dan Pippin and Ollie Edwards replying for the visitors.

In a table-topping clash, Colne Valley narrowly lost out to RD FC, who maintained their unbeaten run with a 4-3 victory.

There were two goals for Hugh Trayte, supported by efforts from Elliot Myrants-Wilson and Jake Levy. Dave Rooney, with two, and Tom Seamons replied for the home side in a tight fought match.

Langleybury Cricket Club took the points and moved above their opponents, Oxhey Rangers, winning 7-3 following a fine hat-trick from Colin Wilson and goals by Matt Honey, Jamie Madden, Ryan Lock and an own goal. Adi Akinfinwa, Connor Murphy and Jack Walsh replied for the visitors.

Also gaining their first win of the campaign, Rickmansworth Athletic beat Rifle Volunteer Reserves 3-1 and moved onto the same points as their opponents thanks to goals from Glen O'Malley, Connor Bantin and Ungureanu Alexandru. Ben Campbell found the back of the net for Rifle.

Division Three

With Hertsmere and Tudor Vets engaged in the Challenge Cup, unbeaten Bell Rangers took full advantage to grab second spot but were surprised by the resistance offered by bottom club Railway Arms.

Bell eventually took the points with a 4-2 victory through goals from Harrison Harrison, JJ Shapeiro, James Alexander and Jack Halcomb. Michael Latham and James Hessey replied for the visitors.

Honours were even in a match between two of the struggling sides as Woodlands United and Green Dragon Reserves drew 2-2.

Matthew Langsdon and Michael Hooker scored for the home team while Tommy Cox grabbed both goals for Dragon.

Division Four

In one of the highest scoring games recorded in the league's 60-plus years, top side Fox and Hounds hammered plucky Garston Rangers 21-0, averaging a goal every four minutes.

All outfield players scored, however Richie Stone led the way with six, Bradley Thompson netted four, Callum Murchan struck three, Max Earthrowl two and there was one each from Jude Bell, Tom O'Connor, Sam Leete, Michael Edwards, Josh Noyes and finally Luke Wilis.

Maintaining their unbeaten run, Bushey Sports Club moved up to second after winning 7-0 away at AC Little Silhouette of Milan through Dan Page (2), Anthony Ball (2), Chris Gough, Henry Davis and Mark Brimble.

Bushey Rangers won the battle against fellow mid-table side Ardent FC 7-4 with goals from Scott Cain, Robbie Tocher (3), Ben Hooper (2) and Lewis Yates.

Chess United lost 4-1 at home to Woodlands Laurels and saw their opponents move above them in the table thanks to goals from Chris Farr, Adam Matthews, Simon Makin and Daniel Okoro. Craig Putman was on target for Chess.
