Kings Langley suffered a 4-1 defeat at Berkhamsted in the second round of the Herts Senior Cup on Tuesday.

With the prize of a home tie with Watford at stake, both teams attacked from the off. The visitors got off to a fast start and took the lead when Danny Hutchins’ fierce drive was beaten out and Jack Stevens calmly steered the ball home.

But the lead lasted just two minutes as Kings' defence failed to clear an attack and Adiel Mannion scored from close range.

The home side’s pace and power was beginning to unsettle the defence and when possession was lost just outside the box, Jude Eboji found space in a crowded area to give them the lead.

Kings Langley's problems increased when Ollie Cox was booked for a heavy tackle and within minutes, his act of petulance in disputing a throw in, saw him dismissed for a second yellow card.

Before they could regroup or adjust to the disadvantage, a free kick into the box was finished by Steve Hawes and they were left with a mountain to climb.

The visitors gave a good account of themselves with ten men but Josh Chamberlain added a fourth to seal victory for Berko.

There was more cup disappointment on Saturday after Kings Langley lost 2-0 at Bury Town in their FA Trophy first qualifying round tie.

The visitors shaded a tight first half and opened in similar fashion after the break when a pinpoint Danny Hutchins free-kick was headed over by Stuart Deaton.

This miss proved costly when Bury Town opened the scoring through Bradley Barber's finish.

Jack Stevens had a chance that went begging minutes later but this was a rare opportunity.

Bury Town sealed their place in the next round when a long throw was flicked on for Barber to score.

Kings Langley travel to Fleet Town in the Southern Division One Central this weekend.
