Watford beat Birmingham 14-11 on Saturday to maintain their 100 per cent record in the British Water Polo League.

Nandi Csech and Samir Barac scored four each for the home side, while Richard Hime and Sam Carling both got two goals and Paul Skerm and James Warman each got one.

The hosts welcomed Barac, the Croatian 2012 London Olympic captain, but it was Birmingham who took an early 3-0 lead.

Csech got Watford back on track when his shot found the back of the net. But with 41 seconds left of the quarter the visitors scored their fourth of the game.

With the second period underway Birmingham hit the back of the net for the fifth time, but Watford reacted quickly and Csech scored his second of the game.

Gary Tonks made it 6-2 when his delicate lob landed in the net. Watford stepped up the pace and with six minutes of the quarter remaining managed to net three goals.

The first was from Barac, a bounce shot from a man-up, Carling scored from pit after beating the keeper and then Barac got his second from a long range shot that bounced off the keeper's head.

The hosts levelled with a third goal from Csech before a brilliant finish from Barac.

Warman turned two defenders and beat the keeper to make it 9-6, Hime then got the tenth goal for the hosts and shortly after Birmingham called a time-out he scored his second of the game.

Two early goals from Carling and Barac made it 13-8 in the final period and Skerm scored before a late rally from Birmingham.
