West Herts Ladies dropped their first East Premier Division points of the season at the weekend after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Cambridge University.

A deflection from Jen Black saw the Stags come from a goal behind, but they were unable to find a second goal to keep their winning run going.

The home side were caught off guard by the University team’s work rate and they struggled to cope.

When the defensive line lapsed, Herts’ new keeper, Jessica Ollerhead, did well to keep Cambridge at bay.

But with Sally Bradley missing a penalty flick in the first half, she soon made up for it, pouncing on a loose ball in front of goal to put Cambridge in front.

However, the hosts quickly responded to going behind. A sideline hit from Sammy Clifft found Helen Humphrey, whose shot was deflected past the keeper by Black.

West Herts men’s Seconds won 3-1 at City of Peterbourgh Thirds in East Division One. Two of the goals came from Matt Sears and one from Ed Beak secured their win.

Peterbourgh took the lead as Herts made a slow start to the game, but Sears soon hit back just before the break to pull his side level.

Beak then put the Stags into the lead after the break with a powerful finish, taking a direct route through four defenders.

Sears grabbed his second of the game as he picked up the pieces from a short corner.
