Herts Sunday Junior Cup Round Three

Bell Rangers were one of a handful of sides to see their match go ahead despite the bad weather and returned from their long trip to Stevenage having defeated MBDA 5-2.

Max Halcomb was on target for the victors, Luke Peerless got a brace and for the second week running JJ Shapeiro and Harrison Harrison also netted.

Hertsmere (Sunday) were well beaten as their cup adventure came to an end 3-0 at home to Boxmoor.

There was similar disappointment for Tudor Vets, who went down 5-3 at home to The Snug Bar from St Albans.

Striker Gary Wicks was on target with two and Dave Herbert grabbed the home side’s third, but to no avail.

Extra-time was required to separate Fox and Hounds and fellow Division Four side Ripstone FC with the former progressing 4-2.

Joe Hardy and Mark Sharkey scored for the hosts but goals from Max Earthrowl, Josh Noyes, Richie Stone and Bradley Thompson sent the visitors into the next round.

Green Dragon Reserves beat bottom side Railway Arms 4-2 in a meeting between two Division Three sides with extra time needed to produce a winner.

The visitors’ Michael Latham was on target with two goals but strikes from Dragon’s Marcus Montgomery and Tommy Cox, added to two own goals, saw them through.

Premier Division

St Josephs lost their unbeaten run and dropped to third place following a 7-2 thrashing at Reed Rangers

Dom David was the star of the show, grabbing five, and with goals from Karl Penny and George Hobson adding to his quintet, the away side were left shell-shocked.

Strikes from Sean Sonner and Connor Flanagan proved scant consolation for Joes.

A first win of the season against Rickmansworth Rovers seemed to have kick-started Vision United’s season but they suffered a reversal of fortunes, losing out 4-3 against the same side on Sunday.

It was honours even at 1-1 at half-time. But a flurry of goals in the second half saw Rovers take the points thanks to a brace from Hadleigh de Vall and strikes by Harry Wallace and Dean Mallett.

The league’s top scorer, Adam Wallace, added to his goal the previous week with two more and Zach Wallace was also on target for the home side.

Division One

Unbeaten draw specialists Chorleywood Club finally took all three points and moved up to second spot with a 5-2 home win against West Watford.

A superb hat-trick from Nick Holden took him to the top of the goalscoring charts for the division and further strikes from Chris May and James Edwards were sufficient despite Aamer Khan’s brace for the visitors.

Old Fullerians had to work hard to maintain top spot, finally winning 2-1 against Croxley FC.

Fullers were grateful to Joe Rylett for a brace which rendered Jack Wilson’s effort a mere consolation.

Division Two

Langleybury Cricket Club eased in to second spot with a 5-2 win at home to Rifle Volunteer Reserves.

Victory was secured with braces from Greg Cook and Colin Wilson – following on from his hat trick last week – and a strike by James Edwards.

Rifle’s Nick Kerley also found the net twice and was unfortunate to be on the losing side.

Division Four

A meeting between two Bushey based sides saw Bushey Sports Club take the bragging rights and maintain their unbeaten run with a 6-1 win over Bushey Rangers.

That success was ensured courtesy of a hat-trick from Anthony Ball, a brace from Dan Page and a single strike by Chris Gough.

The beleaguered hosts should take some comfort from the fact Robbie Tocher’s reply was only the third goal conceded by the away side so far this season.

Garston Rangers remain the whipping boys of the division after going down 9-0 against The Compasses.

They found their way to goal with regularity and there was a hat-trick for Stuart Henderson as well as doubles for Ben Pinder, Harry Hedges and Ollie Biggs.
