Matt Wallace will be seeking a low score today in the third round of final qualifying for the European Tour following a disappointing round yesterday.

The Moor Park golfer is again playing the Stadium Course at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, the same 18 holes that saw him fire a four-over par round of 76 yesterday to leave him way down the 156-strong field on a two-round total of five-over.

Following his one-over par 71 on the Tour Course on Saturday, the 25-year-old got off to a bad start yesterday with a run of three consecutive bogeys on holes two to four. Wallace dropped two more shots on the ninth and 11th to leave him on six-over for the tournament, but then his fortunes improved with a run of three consecutive birdies on holes 12 to 14 to get back to three-over. However, dropped shots on 16 and 17 left Wallace five-over overnight.

The Pinner resident needs to finish in the top 25 and ties to gain a European Tour card, but is currently ten shots adrift having picked up one shot so far today after six holes.

Wallace, who finished 11th on the Alps Tour this season, secured his place at final qualifying after finishing in a tie for sixth place in the second qualifying competition.

Final qualifying differs from conventional golf tournaments in that is held over six rounds with the cut coming at the end of round four.
