Miles Shinkwin intends to steal the show in his British title fight on the undercard of the Carl Frampton v Scott Quigg show next month.

The Bushey boxer has been handed a great opportunity to make a name for himself when he takes on Hosea Burton for the vacant light-heavyweight title at the Manchester Arena on February 27.

The Frampton v Quigg bout is one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of the year and Shinkwin intends to grasp his opportunity.

Shinkwin said: "The Quigg Frampton contest will be a great fight and I'd expect it to live up to the hype. It will be tough to beat that but I intend to steal the show.

"It's a massive stage to go and perform. Fighting in front of 20,000 people will be a great occasion. I don't get nervous and I'm one of those people that lives for the big crowds. This is what you get into the sport for to achieve on the best on the big stage."

Both fighters come into the title showdown with an unbeaten record. But Shinkwin is in no doubt that he will emerge the champion when he takes on Tyson Fury's cousin in his home city.

Shinkwin said: "I am going to win the fight. There is no doubt in my mind. There is nothing that he does better than me. His knockout ratio is less than mine. I am faster than him and have more variety.

"That being said, he is not that far behind me so I have to make sure I am in the best shape and prepared properly on the night otherwise I will fall short if I don't turn up right."

He continued: "We are both at the same stage of our career. We have had roughly the same amount of fights and neither of us have been tested yet although I have more rounds under my belt.

"But if I turn up in shape and mentally ready then he doesn't stand a chance."

It will be both boxers' first 12-round fight and Shinkwin believes it is an important stepping stone in his career.

He said: "It's a huge step for me. If you ask anyone they want to get their hands on the Lonsdale belt. It is a privilege to get the chance to win it.

"But it is only the first step in the rest of my career. The last six months have shown me, when I have sparred against world champions and world class boxers, that I can get to that level. But it is all about performing on the night and showing what I can do."

Meanwhile South Oxhey boxer Reece Bellotti will bid to continue his unbeaten professional record when he returns to the ring tomorrow.

The featherweight has won his first four bouts and will compete at the Copper Box Arena this weekend against Elvis Guillen over eight rounds.

'Bomber' Bellotti, who has made a promising start to his career, will be fighting on the undercard of George Groves' super-middleweight bout against Andrea Di Luisa.
