Berkhamsted moved up to fifth in the South Midlands Premier Division after a 5-2 win at Hertford Town on Tuesday night.

Berko raced into a two goal lead within the first quarter-of-an-hour.

Alex Campana netted the first after beating the right-back, dribbling into the penalty area and shooting home.

Top scorer Bradley O’Donovan added a second after the visitors had hit the post.

But Tyler Hatherley converted a cross after losing his man to begin a fightback. James Ewington then fired home to level the score briefly.

Berko regained the upper hand when Josh Chamberlain hit a superb 30-yard strike into the net.

Chamberlain scored again before half-time with a header after a surging run and cross from Dan Edwards.

Berko added a fifth when substitute Adiel Mannion raced clear and finished Town off to seal a first away league win for three months.

It was a welcome result for the side after losing 3-1 at home to London Colney on Saturday.

Their defeat ended the side’s unbeaten home record in the league.

Russell Gallagher’s backheel fired the league leaders into the lead.

Dan Weeks headed his first goal since joining in the summer from Sun Sports to equalise with more than half-an-hour remaining.

Berko pressed hard for the winner but were caught out after conceding twice in the last ten minutes. Substitute Callum Woods scored one and Gallagher netted his second of the game.

Oxhey Jets suffered a 5-2 defeat at Leverstock Green on Saturday.

Ben Alexander and Greg Usher scored consolations for the Jets.

Sun Sports eased to a 4-1 home win over Bedford at the weekend. Goals from Dom David, Scott Bonner, Ash Lewis and Jack Johnson earned the points.

Tring Athletic were beaten 2-1 at home by Colney Heath on Saturday despite a goal from new signing Chris Blunden.
