West Herts were unable to build on their victory over Cambridge City the previous week as they lost 6-4 to Oxted on Sunday in the National Hockey League East Conference.

The Stags were two goals up after seven minutes as Will Grbic opened Herts’ account and Max Webster scored the second.

Oxted struck back to take a 3-2 half-time lead with two Robert Schenk strikes and a goal by Dylan Thomas.

Chris Porter put Oxted further ahead in the second half before both teams registered goals in the 47th minute with the younger Webster brother getting his second and Schenk completing his hat-trick to make it 5-3.

Dan Webster gave the Stags hope with a goal in the 61st minute but Schenk closed out the game.

West Herts will face Richmond on Sunday who, until the weekend, had been top of the table.

West Herts Ladies came through a tough test on Saturday, beating Norwich Dragons 4-2 at home in the Ladies East Premier.

Herts took the lead with a well-taken goal from Becky Perry, but the Dragons capitalised on some poor defending to level the scores.

Anna Coppel struck to give Herts the lead again with Sammy Clifft rounding off a good team move for the third.

Norwich punished a defensive lapse to reduce the deficit, but with five minutes remaining Anna McGlaughlin put the game beyond doubt.

West Herts men’s Seconds thumped Bishop’s Stortford 10-0, making it 25 goals in their last three matches in East Division One.

Jason Mallory scored four for the Stags and their tally was completed by a brace apiece for Luke Samarasinghe and Steve George and single strikes from Pete Corbridge and Matt Sears.

Table-topping Upminster were too strong for Stags Thirds in East Division Two South with five first-half goals putting the game beyond Herts’ reach in a 6-1 defeat.

For the men’s Fourths, an Ian Gough hat-trick helped the home side to a 4-1 victory over Letchworth Thirds, cementing a 12-point advantage at the top of Division Five South West.

The men’s Fifths produced a good performance to extend their unbeaten run to 13 games as they beat St Albans Sevenths 3-2 in East Division Seven South West.

Despite going a goal behind in the first minute, the Men’s Sixths saw off visitors Stevenage Fourths in East Division Eight South West. Skipper Steve Bold got two of his team’s goals.

Goals from top scorer Shasza Paterson-Jones and Matty Woods helped West Herts Sevenths to a 2-0 victory over Letchworth Sevenths in East Division Nine South West.

West Herts ladies Seconds secured a 1-0 victory over Hertford thanks to a Lyndsay Allan penalty corner to take her side out of the East Division Two South drop zone.

The ladies Thirds continued their impressive run with a 5-1 win away at bottom side Harpenden Seconds in Five Counties Premier. Hayley McNeill, Samantha Blissett (2) and Tanita Montgomery (2) scored the goals.

Another strong performance led the ladies Fourths to a 5-0 win at Tring in Five Counties Division Two as Rachel Aldridge scored twice and Sheena Hambleton, Vicky Vitesse and skipper Sam Rothwell weighed in with one apiece.

The ladies Fifths were frustrated with their 1-1 draw against Bedford in Five Counties Division Four, but with five games remaining they are still in with a shout of achieving promotion this season.
