WSFL Intermediate Cup Semi-Final

Division One side Gadeside Rangers eased through to the final with a comfortable 3-0 victory over second division leaders Colne Valley yesterday.

Leading 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Adam Hills and Matt Evans, Rangers secured the tie with a second-half strike from Harry Lock.

In the other tie between sides from the first and second divisions, Division One leaders Old Fullerians were surprisingly beaten 2-1 away to Langleybury Cricket Club, who sit mid-table in the next division.

With honours even at the break through goals from Fullers’ Charlie Hailey and Langleybury’s Matt Honey, the home side moved into the final following a fine effort from Greg Cook.

WSFL Junior Cup Semi-Final

With a 4-2 away win, fourth division leaders Fox and Hounds showed that promotion would hold no fears when they met mid-table Sun Postal Sports from the third division.

Goals from the home side’s Louis Hakner and Sam Hakner against a brace from Fox’s Ciaran Walsh kept the match finely balanced at 2-2 at half-time, but strikes by Rob Partington and Richie Stone set up a final showdown against Tudor Vets.

Premier Division

Having shown no mercy to a number of clubs in recent weeks, leaders Reed Rangers were crushed 6-1 away to Oakview.

The champions now sit in second spot on goal difference but, with games in hand, look favourites to retain their crown for a third successive season.

Oakview’s defence kept Reed’s prolific striker Dom David quiet, although Chris Wells did find a way through. But Rangers were no match for Spencer Bellotti’s four-goal blast and the two Toms, Kennedy and Inch, who scored one apiece.

St Josephs seem to have blown their chance of top spot and could well struggle to secure the runners-up position after a disappointing 1-1 draw with bottom side Rifle Volunteer.

Rifle’s well-earned point, courtesy of a strike from Nick Kerley, should give them the confidence with games in hand to move up the table and away from relegation.

The reliable Sean Sonner found the net for the Joes.

Division One

In the first double header of the season there was no particular winner as both Croxley FC and Met Police (Bushey) took three points apiece which simply underlined their mid-table positions.

Goals by Luke Dolan and Carl Pettit gave Croxley a 2-1 victory in the first game, with Ashley Shanahan replying for Met.

The reverse fixture saw the Police run out 2-0 winners thanks to a goal from Rob Gradwell plus Shanahan’s second of the morning.

The good recent form shown by Oxhey Lions continued when they met North Watford, winning 3-1 and moving up to fifth spot following strikes by Ollie Brunton, Wayne Gladdy and Craig Gorrie. Tyrone Young netted for the visitors.

Division Two

Cassiobury Rangers consolidated their position above the relegation places with a 5-0 victory away to Croxley FC Reserves.

Joe Mortimer scored twice, to add to his four the previous Sunday, with Alex Smyth, Javaid Payne and Callum Woolnough adding one apiece.

Three weeks of disappointing results without any points leaves RD FC’s hopes of promotion precarious after losing out 2-0 to Rickmansworth Athletic, whose battle to avoid relegation was helped by strikes from Jay Taylor and Ionut Nedelea.

West Herts missed the opportunity to go top when they drew 0-0 with third-placed Rifle Volunteer Reserves in a match dominated by both defences.

Scoring opportunities were few and far between but this was the first time the Stags have not found the net this season.

Division Three

Evergreen threw off the disappointment of their previous week’s cup defeat and returned with a vengeance to retrieve top spot with a 6-1 win over bottom side Railway Arms.

The comfortable win was secured courtesy of a fine hat-trick from their top striker, Anthony Benvenga, and goals by Aleks Jokiel, Conner Herbert and Conner Townsend.

Railway’s fighting spirit kept the score limited to 1-0 at the interval but they could not withstand the second-half onslaught, although Shane Perrin was able to penetrate Evergreen’s normally watertight defence.

A 4-0 away win over Green Dragon Reserves keeps Bell Rangers’ promotion hopes on track thanks to a brace from Chris Blunden and strikes by Jack Halcomb and Lee Everitt.

Also in contention for promotion are The Swan following a 2-0 victory over Cassiobury Revolution with their goals coming from Leo Kokaj and Rob Fletcher.

Having lost only once so far this season and with a solid defence, Swan must be seen as one of the favourites for top spot.

Division Four

With runaway leaders Fox and Hounds busy on cup duty all three chasing teams took advantage, winning convincingly against lower placed sides.

Ripstone FC made up for their goalless draw seven days before with a 5-2 defeat of Bushey Rangers.

Matthew Elgey led the way with four goals and Red O'Donoghue scored their fifth whilst an effort from Adam Bell and an own goal were chalked up for the Rangers.

The Compasses retained third spot and kept the pressure on Ripstone with a fine 6-0 victory over Garston Rangers through goals from Andy Sturgess (2), Max Jimminson, Ben Pinder, Ben Denyer and Ollie Biggs.

Woodlands Laurels entertained Ardent FC but lost 4-0 after conceding two goals in each half.

This victory leaves Ardent competing with the morning’s other two winners for the second promotion spot.
