Fullerians slipped to second in the London 2 North West table despite beating Tabard 20-8, but they maintained the pressure on leaders Hammersmith and Fulham, who they face next.

Saturday’s win was Fullers' eighth straight league victory and leaves them just a point shy of the Londoners, over whom they have a game in hand.

The Watford side will have home advantage when the pair meet in a heavyweight clash on April 2, after the Easter break, and they will be out for revenge following December’s defeat at the hands of their title rivals, who were the last team to beat them in the league.

If they win that, they will have just three games to keep their noses in front and land the title.

Fullers maintained their healthy position after overcoming the challenge of third-from-bottom Tabard last weekend.

Luke Jacobs settled any early nerves with a penalty before Tom Williams finished well in the corner to stretch their advantage to 8-0.

Jacobs missed the conversion and the hosts got back in the contest, taking advantage of a missed tackle in midfield to respond with an unconverted try.

Fullers were in no mood to show them any more daylight though, and five minutes later they re-asserted their authority with Drew Horne scoring in the corner and Jacobs adding the extras.

Tabard responded with a penalty before their break but they were the last points Fullers allowed them.

They comfortably saw out the second half and extended their lead when Kane O’Shea went over in the corner.

It wasn’t a vintage win, but Fullers’ tries were well worked and they created several other good opportunities to set up their potential title decider.
