Premier Division

The race for the Premier Division is now a two-horse race after both Oxhey Hall Stars and Old Danes Athletic registered big wins on Sunday.

Oxhey gained six points from their double header with Nascot Arms, winning both games easily 8-0 and 3-0 respectively.

In the first game Paul Kenwright scored five times, supported by singles from Kieran Nelhams, Calum McCarol and Darren Insley, who added a hat-trick in the second fixture.

Old Danes hit an understrength AFC Bovingdon for 11 goals without reply.

Lewis Chappell scored five times, with the others coming from Liam Janusz, Colin Spooner, Jordan Woodcock, James Burkes, Chris White and Joel Foskett.

The results mean Oxhey Hall have a three-point advantage at the top of the table but Old Danes have a game in hand, although they are five behind their title rivals on goal difference.

Division One

Meriden made up for the disappointment of their Chairman’s Cup semi-final defeat the previous week as they defeated Watford Labour Club 6-2 to clinch the title.

Labour, who are doomed to finish in bottom place, gave Meriden a test early on and missed three good chances before their opponents went ahead after 15 minutes. A second soon followed, but as the heavens opened to a thunderstorm including hail, Labour pulled a goal back through Stuart White.

Meriden effectively won the game and the title with two goals in the first two minutes of the second half and then raced into a 5-1 lead before White scored his second of the game from the penalty spot.

Meriden added one more as the game ended in bright sunshine and their scorers were Tom Dettmer and Ben Dutton with two goals each, while Aarron Crawford and Joe Walton netted one apiece.

With Meriden confirmed as champions, the focus now moves to the race to be runners-up with seven points separating six teams.

AFC Green Machine are the side in pole position at the moment after they defeated Roundbush 1-0 thanks to a goal from Charlie Fowler .

Batchworth defeated South Oxhey Labour Reserves 5-3 to move them off second bottom spot and six points behind Green Machine.

An end-to-end game saw Batchworth pegged back three times before finally confirming the win with two goals in the last 20 minutes.

Cameron Murray and Sam Hollis both scored doubles, along with an effort from Danny Lewis. The Oxhey goals were netted by Jordan Aston-Woods, Sam Beckford and Bradley Brunt.
