WSFL Junior Cup Final

Josh Noyes was the hat-trick hero as Division Four leaders Fox and Hounds secured what they hope will be the first of more than one trophy this season with a 4-0 victory over Division Three side Tudor Vets.

After 22 minutes of end-to-end action Noyes opened the scoring when his speculative shot from the edge of the penalty area squirmed through the Vet’s goalkeeper’s hands.

A mix-up in the box allowed Ciaran Walsh to double the lead at the break and two more strikes from man-of-the-match Noyes secured the trophy for Fox.

Premier Division outfit Vision United had an almighty scrap against first division visitors Met Police (Bushey) to secure a place in the final after the tie finished all square at 1-1 after 90 minutes following goals from Vision’s Adam Wallace and Met’s Rob Gradwell.

The home side finally made their higher division status tell in extra-time, running out 5-1 victors after a brace from Winston Taylor and strikes by Yashin Badhoo and Jermaine Davey.

Currently sitting bottom of Division One, North Watford were given very little chance against Premier outfit Rickmansworth Rovers but goals by hot shot Shoaib Alin and Usman Ali saw them progress into the final after a 2-1 victory.

Adam Seabrook grabbed Rovers’ solitary goal, but after a shaky league campaign North Watford can now look forward to the final, albeit against Premier side Vision United.

Double header matches on a Sunday obviously do not seem to suit Green Dragon, although in the first game against Rifle Volunteer the points were shared following a 2-2 draw.

Nick Kerley and Andy Lomas struck for Rifle and Luke O'Malley and Nathan Singh found the net for their opponents.

In the reverse fixture though, Ryan Carter was the only Dragon player to score as Rifle wrapped up a 5-1 victory to move off the bottom of the table through braces from Kerley and George Gaffney and another from Lomas.

Division One

AFC Oddfellows’ 3-2 victory over South Oxhey Labour Club moved them up to mid-table, clear of the relegation spots and onto the same points as their opponents thanks to goals from Michael O'Connor (2) and Alex Delaney.

Croxley FC also moved up one spot following a hard-fought 3-1 win at home to Oxhey Lions with goals from Pat Armstong, Aaron Farrell and Tom Hughes.

This was a disappointing result for Lions in their push for promotion and all they had to show for their efforts was a strike from Barrie Newman-Thomas.

Division Two

Having taken the title the previous weekend, West Herts lost their unbeaten record with a 1-0 defeat away to Cassiobury Rangers.

Both sides created opportunities in an evenly-contested match and the best chance fell to the home side when they were awarded an early penalty, but Stags keeper Rob Miller made an excellent save to keep the scores level.

The match was settled late into the second half when Cassiobury’s leading striker Joe Mortimer slotted home from close range.

RD FC bounced back from their defeat against champions West Herts with a convincing 7-2 defeat of lowly Oxhey Rangers.

Sam Smith with a hat-trick, two-goal Olly Mussi, Joe Ellis and Adam de Swarte all found the net for the victors while Connor Murphy netted both of Oxhey’s goals.

Rickmansworth Athletic moved further clear of the drop zone following a 4-3 win over bottom side Croxley FC Reserves, although the match was closely contested until the final whistle.

Sam Marskell, Ungureanu Alexandru (2) and Paul Davidson were all on target for Ricky as Lee Stangroom and Ollie Edwards (2) found the net in response.

Division Three

In the first part of their double header Bell Rangers went down 3-1 to The Swan, who appear to have their game back on track.

Kris Shapti, Maz Urgo and James Banfield did the damage for the victors, with Marc Bonito pulling one back for Bell.

The Swan had to work a lot harder in the second leg before finally taking the points with a 2-1 win through goals from Sham Patel and Leo Kokaj as Bonito again scored for Bell.

The pair of wins moved Swan up to third and still in with a chance of securing promotion.

Hertsmere (Sunday) showed that they will not concede second spot easily though, after Nathan Slinger’s brace and a Kyle David strike secured a 3-0 victory over Sun Postal Sports.

It was a disappointing day for struggling sides Woodlands United and Cassiobury Revolution, who played out a 2-2 draw for a share of the points.

Caleb Smith netted for the home side in the first half but this was cancelled out by Callum Hearn for Cassiobury.

The second half was also evenly matched with goals by Woodlands’ Michael Hooker and Tom Donisthorpe for the visitors.

Revolution had previously been beaten 1-0 by Evergreen, who took advantage of a Thursday evening fixture to retain top spot following a goal late in the second half.

Division Four

Bushey Rangers consolidated their mid-table position and upset The Compasses’ promotion ambitions with an unexpected yet convincing 7-1 win.

The goals were shared around between Robbie Tocher, Sean Grennan, Scott Cain (2), Lewis Yates, Luke Gardner and Adam Bell, with Ben Pinder hitting the net for the visitors.

Mid-table side Woodlands Laurels gave high-flying visitors Ripstone FC a scare and they had to be at their best to secure all three points to close in on leaders Fox and Hounds following a 4-3 win.

Lee Woodward, Klevis Delshavi and Dan Okoro were all on target for the home side but a brace from Ripstone’s top striker Matt Elgey, supported by strikes by Matt Sharkey and Red O'Donoghue, made sure of the points.

WSFL Invitation Cup

AC Little Silhouette of Milan moved to the top of the divisional table with a 4-0 victory over fellow fourth division side Chess United thanks to goals from Ben Davies, Alex Dalton and two by Ryan Fullan.
