A minimum of 16 teams will go into the hat for the draw for the opening round(s) of the Watford Observer Fourteen14 next week.

Entries for the area’s premier limited overs competition close today and, currently, a total of 16 sides had confirmed their participation in the Shield.

Led by defending champions Radlett, the teams are Abbots Langley, Aldenham School, Chipperfield Clarendon, Kings Langley, Langleybury (two teams), Leverstock Green (two teams), Met Police Bushey, Northchurch, Rickmansworth School Staff, Watford Haidery, Watford Town (two teams) and West Herts.

However, competition organisers are expecting entries from other clubs and these will be accepted as long as they are received by 9am on Monday.

The draw will take place at midday on Tuesday and the outcome will be published via sports editor Anthony Matthews’ Twitter feed @Ant_WatfordObs and on the Watford Observer website.

If, as expected, more than 16 entries are received, a number of teams will receive byes through to round two.
