Premier Division

Wins for both Old Danes Athletic and Oxhey Hall Stars made sure that the title battle will go right to the final game of the season this Sunday.

It is now Old Danes Athletic who hold the narrowest of leads at the top, leading by the virtue of scoring three more goals than Oxhey Hall with goal difference exactly level.

Old Danes’ 6-3 win over Prince George meant that wiped out their title rival’s single-goal advantage as they could only beat Hertfordshire Lions 2-0.

Jordan Woodcock and Craig Horwood scored doubles each for Old Danes, with the other strikes coming from a Glen O’Malley overhead kick and Chris White.

The Prince George goals, which all came in the second half, were netted by Tom Minton, Martin Sanseverino and Curtis Seaward.

Matt Byrne struck twice in the second half for Oxhey Hall but they could be left to left to rue several missed chances, including a penalty in the first half from Mark Insley, as it looks almost certain the title will be decided on goal difference or even goals scored.

Title winners Meriden suffered a second defeat of the season 1-0 away to Inter; this coming two weeks after the same team defeated them in the semi-final of the Challenge Cup.

The game was decided by Jordan Gordon’s goal after 25 minutes. Meriden were denied by the woodwork, two last-ditch goalline clearances and a superb performance in the Inter goal from Andrew Thompson.

Batchworth got the better of Roundbush 4-2, meaning the sides swap places in the league table.

Rhys Thoroughgood, Cameron Murray, Sam Hollis, Chris Watson scored the Batchworth goals with John Catterson, and Laurence Brown replying for the visitors.
