WSFL Terry Devereux President's Cup Final

Lowly first division outfit North Watford beat Premier Division side Vision United 1-0 thanks to a fantastic second-half strike from winger Tyrone Young to lift the cup  on Sunday.

In what many had expected to be a one-sided affair, an even first half saw both sides go close, but it took some fine saves from North Watford’s keeper to keep his side on level terms at the break.

A few minutes into the second half Young picked the ball up on the halfway line, raced down the wing and with everyone expecting a cross, he fired over the stranded Vision keeper into the far top corner of the net.

Vision responded with repeated attacks, assisted by a strong wind at their backs, but the North Watford defence remained solid and particularly man-of-the-match Ryan Fisken.

Vision will be hoping for better success in Sunday’s Challenge Cup Final against Oakview.

Premier Division

Champions Oakview warmed up for their appearance in the Challenge Cup Final with an 11-1 thrashing of Reed Rangers, who currently sit in second place in the table.

Vision will have to be wary of strikers Spencer Bellotti and Lee Armitt, who both scored four goals, with Tom Kennedy and Warren Gladdy also finding the net and an own goal completing their tally. Jamie Seabrook scored Reed’s consolation.

Rifle Volunteer continued their late winning run and moved above Rickmansworth Rovers with a comprehensive 7-0 victory over a weakened St Josephs side.

Nick Kerley, who scored twice the previous weekend, again reigned supreme with five goals and Terry Cooper pitched in with a handy brace.

Division One

AFC Oddfellows entertained Chorleywood Club but could not prevent them taking the points and guaranteeing second spot with a 3-0 win following a brace from Nick Holden and a goal by Aaron Whittingham.

Gadeside Rangers completed their season in style, winning 3-2 at home to Croxley FC with Tariq Khan (2) and Matt Evans both finding the net. Carl Pettit and Hayden Smith scored for the visitors.

Nerves may have played a part when leaders Old Fullerians visited Met Police (Bushey) and suffered their first league defeat of the season, going down 2-1 as both Houssom Zeizale and Dan Branch repeated their goal scoring efforts from midweek.

Fullers registered through an own goal and while they still look favourites for the title, they will be closely monitoring Chorleywood’s remaining games.

Zeizale and Branch, who netted twice, were also on target on Thursday as Met Police drew 3-3 with Gadeside, who secured third place in the table as a result.

Jason Brownhill and Owen Maguire were on target Rangers, who also required an own goal to help secure their point.

Division Two

Having secured the title West Herts appear to have taken their foot off the gas in recent weeks and could only draw 1-1 with relegation candidates Croxley FC Reserves.

A strike by the Stags’ Dave Stewart was matched by Gino de Antonis which keeps Croxley one place above bottom side Oxhey Rangers on goal difference.

Reversing the previous Sunday’s result, RD FC finally secured third spot with a 3-1 victory away to Langleybury Cricket Club following goals from Jake Levy, Joe Ellis and Olly Myrants-Wilson. Matt Honey scored for the home side.

Division Three

The battle for the title will go down to the final matches following Evergreen’s convincing 9-0 victory over Sun Postal Sports to leave the leaders only one point ahead of rivals The Swan.

Regular scorers Aleks Jokiel hit three and Anthony Benvenga two and they were assisted by strikes from Dan Jones, Joss Dunham, Connor Herbert and Kieran Zeller.

Tudor Vets secured fourth spot following a 5-4 victory away to Green Dragon Reserves as Gary Wicks grabbed the headlines with four goals and Dave Herbert hitting one for the victors.

Dragon’s Tommy Cox was on target with a hat-trick and Ryan Carter scored Dragon’s fourth.

Hat-tricks in consecutive matches from Leo Kokaj plus goals from Maz Urgo and Danny Brennan gave The Swan all three points in a 5-0 win away to Railway Arms.

This victory secured second spot and also gives them a chance of snatching the title from Evergreen.

Division Four

Ardent FC finished their season in fine style and made sure of third place in the table after thrashing mid-table Bushey Rangers 11-1.

The home side’s goals were shared among seven players with Charlie Salvage leading the way on three, Lee Spence and Nick Buschfield-Birch struck two apiece and Jamie Kavanagh, Keifer Shuttleworth, Ross Parsons and Glenn Rawlings added one each. Robbie Tocher found the net for Rangers’ consolation.

WSFL Invitation Cup

Having struggled all season to find the net, Chess United took top spot in this league-based competition on goal difference following a one sided 11-0 victory over fellow fourth division side Garston Rangers.

United’s star was four-goal Craig Putman, Tom Noades added a hat-trick and single strikes by James Richmond, Joe Harris, Perry Rogers and Jamie Jewel completed the rout.

After looking likely favourites for the Invitation Cup title, AC Little Silhouette of Milan fell at the last hurdle, going down 3-2 away to Woodlands Laurels in a result which reflected their league positions and left three clubs on similar points.

Two-goal Klevis Delshavi and Lee Woodward scored for the home side with Sam Haslam and Ryan Fallon, adding to his previous weekend’s brace, replying for Milan.
