Moor Park golfer Matt Wallace's extraordinary run shows no sign of slowing down after he romped to his third consecutive win on the Alps Tour.

Wallace was a class apart as he eased to an eight-shot victory at the Gosser Open in Austria yesterday.

The Pinner-based golfer came into the tournament in exceptional form after back-to-back victories at the Dreamland Pyramids Open in Cairo and the Tunisian Golf Open last week.

The 26-year-old recorded a final round of 66 in Austria to finish on 20-under-par which was eight shots clear of closest challenger Robin Goger.

Wallace told the Alps Tour: "It was an amazing week. I played some great stuff. I got off to a great start today with an eagle on the first after hitting pitching wedge from 160 to six feet. But then I didn’t putt great. Robin was putting fantastic and was making putts from everywhere."

He added: "I stayed patient and the birdies on five and six were great. I just tried to shoot as low as possible until I was safe to play to the middle of the greens.

"The feeling walking down the 18th with a seven-shot lead was one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced. A lot of hard work has paid off recently. Three in a row, love it! I am so happy."

Wallace shared the lead after an opening round of 66. He surged clear of the field after a superb 64 in the second round which gave him a commanding five-shot lead going into the final 18 holes.

His victory sees him extend his commanding lead at the top of the Alps Tour rankings. Wallace is top with 25,929.17 points which is more than double the amount of second-placed Franck Daux.

The top-five at the end of the season will earn places on the Challenge Tour.
