Moor Park golfer Callum Shinkwin made an excellent start to the Irish Open this afternoon.
The Bushey-based talent opened with a four-under-par round of 68 which left him in a tie for second towards the end of the first day at the K Club.
Starting on the tenth tee, Shinkwin opened with a birdie and picked up another three shots on his first nine holes although he did bogey the 12th hole.
The powerful golfer added birdies at the second and fourth hole before dropping a shot on the eighth which was his penultimate of the day.
Masters champion Danny Willett is setting the early pace and was three shots clear on seven-under par with three holes remaining.
Shinkwin earned his best finish of the European Tour season on his last start after taking 13th place at the Trophee Hassan II.
