Callum Shinkwin remains in contention near the top of the leaderboard following the completion of his second round of the Irish Open.
Following a four-under-par 68 yesterday, the Bushey-based player lost a little ground today after shooting a one-over 73 at the K Club, but he currently lies in a share of sixth place alongside ten other players.
The 23-year-old Moor Park golfer played even par golf on every hole in his second round except the par three eighth which, like yesterday, he dropped a shot on.
Shinkwin’s three-under-par total leaves him five shots behind the current joint leaders, Masters champion Danny Willett and Marc Warren, with Rory McIlroy one further back in third on seven-under-par.
The 2013 English Amateur Champion’s best European Tour finish to date came in last month’s Trophee Hassan II when he finished 13th.
It is shaping up to be another exciting weekend for the Moor Park club with Matt Wallace seeking his fourth consecutive victory on the Alps Tour.
