Matt Wallace is set to test his run of history-making form on the bigger stage this week after receiving an invitation to compete at his first European Tour event.

The Moor Park golfer, who has achieved the unrivalled feat of winning his last four Alps Tour outings, had been hoping to compete at next week's Lyoness Open in Austria when he reflected on his triumph at the Vigevano Open with the Watford Observer.

However, the 26-year-old has received an invitation earlier than he anticipated last week and will tee off for the first time in a European Tour event on Thursday morning at the Nordea Masters in Sweden.

“It’s amazing,” he told us this evening. “The course is fantastic and the condition is amazing. I’m looking forward to competing again.”

But the Pinner-based professional is not fazed by the prospect of taking on a higher calibre field.

“I’m not worried about what happens,” Wallace continued. “I’m going to play my game and play as hard as I can and see where it puts me at the end of the week. I’m currently just preparing the way I normally do for a tournament.”

Wallace has been paired with Swedish pair Jeff Karlsson and Alexander Bjork and Thursday will also be a proud day for Moor Park, who will be represented by two players as Bushey’s Callum Shinkwin is also in the field.

“It’s great to have two Moor Park members in a European Tour tournament and long may it continue,” said Wallace. “We are both excited and the support from members at the club shows they are too.”

Shinkwin is due to tee off alongside England’s Max Orrin and Denmark’s Lasse Jensen and the 23-year-old will be looking to build on back-to-back top-20 finishes in his last two events, although he missed out in his bid to qualify for the US Open yesterday.
