The Everett Rovers junior tournament returned to the Watford football calendar on Sunday and now looks set to become an annual fixture again.
The competition had dropped off the schedule because of pitch problems but it returned at the weekend and was a resounding success.
Around 700 players took part in seven age groups from Under-7s up to Under-13s at the event at Rovers’ Leggatts home in Watford.
Matt Green, from the club, said: “It was really successful and the plan is to make it an annual event.”
This year’s return went so well that organisers are considering possibly extending the tournament to cover two days next summer.
The host club even had a home win to celebrate with Everett Rovers Yellow winning the Under-10 competition.
The other winners were: Under-7 - Chorleywood Lions; Under-8 - TFA Bushey; Under 9 - Whetstone Wanderers; Under-11 - Wormley Blacks; Under-12 - Park Street Blue; Under 13 - Hemel Town.
