Kings Langley have continued their preparations for life in the Southern League Premier Division by appointing Terry Plowright to the club’s committee as sports director.

A businessman in property development, Plowright will have a wide remit including ground improvements, commercial opportunities and player contracts as the Gaywood Park club continue to look at ways to enhance their infrastructure following three successive promotions.

Chairman Derry Edgar said: “At the level the club are now operating it’s desperately important we get the type of people on board who can help us both sustain and develop the club. Terry fits that profile ideally. He’s a real football man with a well-earned reputation as a ‘doer’.

“He has a wealth business experience and an in-depth knowledge of the demands and challenges we are likely to face in the Southern Premier.”

Edgar has previously said he will still stand aside if a suitable replacement can be found as chairman. That process remains ongoing but Edgar will continue in his current role “with Terry supporting me in an advisory capacity” with the expectation he will have a “significant influence on the club’s direction and strategy”.

Edgar added: “We have heard this week that we have been awarded the Sir Stanley Rous Memorial Trophy from the Herts FA for the outstanding achievement of three successive promotions.

“We are honoured to receive such a prestigious award and it is ample testimony to the efforts of everyone at the club who have contributed to our success.”
