Callum Shinkwin remains in contention for a high finish at the Scottish Open after shooting a two-under-par third round of 70 at Castle Stuart.

Following rounds of 74 and 69, the Moor Park golfer is currently in a share of 38th place on three-under-par ahead of getting his final round under way this lunchtime.

Although the 23-year-old Bushey professional is nine shots behind overnight leader Alex Noren, he is within three of the top ten.

Shinkwin, who secured a career high share of ninth place at last week’s Open de France to qualify for the Open Championship at Royal Troon, started yesterday’s third round superbly with birdies on two, three, five and six to move to five-under-par.

However, a double bogey at the par three eighth saw him drop back and Shinkwin also let another shot go at the par fourth tenth. But he recovered one of those with a birdie at the par four 14th.
