Matt Wallace’s impressive has got even better with a best ever finish on the Challenge Tour after a second consecutive round of 65 saw him make big strides up the leaderboard in the final round of the Challenge de Espana.

The Moor Park Golf Club member finished on 18-under-par to secure a share of ninth place at La Gomera in the Canary Islands, comfortably surpassing the tie for 26th he achieved at the Red Sea Egyptian Challenge in April.

The 26-year-old is enjoying a memorable 2016 after making history by winning five consecutive events on the Alps Tour, but after missing the cut at last week’s D+D Real Slovakia Challenge Wallace has achieved his best result to date when the status of the tours are taken into account.

After rounds of 67 and 69, Wallace’s charge up the leaderboard began yesterday when he fired a six-under-par round featuring five birdies and an eagle three on the par five 17th.

And he continued that form today, shooting a superb five-under 31 on the opening nine holes. A sixth birdie followed on 11 and although he dropped a shot on the 12th, Wallace retrieved that with a seventh birdie of his final round on the par four 15th.
