Goals from Alex Ward and Chris Blunden saw Sun Sports beat London Tigers 2-0 in an FA Cup extra preliminary round replay on Tuesday.

Sun had secured the replay in dramatic fashion on Saturday as Tommy Walsh scored with virtually the last kick of the game against 10-man Tigers.

They were in the ascendency throughout the first meeting between the two sides, which ended 1-1, and were once again on top during Tuesday’s match.

It took them until the second half to go ahead, however, and there was an element of fortune about the goal when they did find it.

A deep cross to the back post eluded the Tigers keeper and Ward was on hand to nod home from virtually on the goalline.

A second yellow card for a Tigers player saw them go down to 10 men once again and Sun took full advantage of their numerical supremacy.

They went close to doubling their lead from a corner, but a fine goalline clearance kept Tigers in the game.

Any hopes of a comeback were soon extinguished though, as a clever cross from the left found Blunden in space in the centre of the box.

He wasted no time in dispatching an instinctive effort past the Tigers keeper to put the result beyond doubt.

The win booked Sun’s spot in the preliminary round of the FA Cup where they face Northwood at home on Saturday, August 20, and kicks off at 3pm.
