Slough Town came from two goals down to see Charlie Moone hit the winner seven minutes from time and leave Kings Langley still looking for their first win in the Southern League Premier Division following a 3-2 defeat on Saturday.

Defender Brad Hewitt had the first chance for the visiting Rebels with a misplaced header, but Kings took the lead when a telling Josh Chamberlain wing pass sent Immanuelson Duku on a run to the corner flag and the frontman did well to get a low cross over from a tight angle, which Lewis Toomey blasted home from close range.

Although Xavi Comas tipped away a Gavin James header, the hosts were in control, with both Toomey and Duku going close, and they extended the lead when Toomey ran on to a Gary Connolly through ball to guide an angled shot past Mark Scott.

That appeared to be game over, but Gary Hollis headed a Rebels corner goalwards and the head of Simon Dunn turned it past Comas to give the visitors hope.

Within three minutes that turned to belief as a low cross from the right was drilled home through a crowded box by James Dobson to bring Slough back level at 2-2.

The pendulum had now swung and when Emmanuel Folarin cleared off the line and Moone missed an open goal, Kings were relieved to reach the interval without further damage.

They worked hard to regain the initiative in the second half, restricting Town to two fierce long shots just wide by Dobson and Moone and they thought the tide had turned when Duku netted on the turn, only to be ruled marginally offside.

Kings continued to make all the running, but when Toomey, on the recovery road back to full fitness, was replaced midway through the second half, a threat went with him.

Worse was to follow for the home side as they were finally undone by another set piece; Moone heading home a raking cross-field free-kick from James Dobson to complete the turnaround and leave Kings with plenty of questions to ponder.

The defeat leaves Paul Hughes and Ritchie Hanlon’s side 19th in the table ahead of tomorrow night’s trip to a Biggleswade Town side who have also taken just one point from their opening three league games.
