Kings Langley came away with an impressive 1-0 away victory at Cirencester in the Southern Premier Division thanks to a 45th minute strike from Lewis Toomey.

The visitors nearly netted inside ten minutes when defender Ben Brown had to be alert to clear the ball off the line from Immanuelson Duku.

Lee Smith tried his luck in Ciren's first opportunity after a clever one-two with Kyle Lapham but his shot was drilled wide.

The away side then should have scored when David Hutton slid a sumptuous through ball into the path of striker Toomey who could not convert his chance.

But the striker made amends for his previous missed chance to poke home from a rebound on the stroke of half-time.

Adam Connolly came inches from giving the Centurions an equaliser five minutes into the second half when the midfielder's long-range drive grazed the crossbar.

Kings Langley's two centre-backs looked a threat at set-pieces and the two of them combined with Jorell Johnson flicking on for partner Callum Adebiyi who almost connected at the far post.

Both Aidan Bennett and Ollie Knight tried to find an equaliser with the former creating space and firing wide before Ciren winger Knight misfiring a volley over.

Kings Langley nearly extended their lead when Josh Chamberlain sent a fizzing shot just wide of the right-hand post.

Then Harvey Rivers had to make an excellent save to stop Toomey netting his brace with his outstretched hand.

Cirencester made an effort to get back into the game and had a penalty appeal turned town when Kallum Youngsam fell down in the box, but it was the men in white who came away with a comfortable win to move up to 18th in the table.
