Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup Round One

Four Watford Sunday League sides made it through to the second round of the County Cup with Evergreen’s 4-1 away win over Hertford Corinthians the pick of the results.

The tie didn’t start well for the South Way-based team as they went behind early on to a very direct and physical home outfit, but Joss Dunham volleyed his side level and he then turned provider for Aleks Jokiel to run clear and slot home.

A third goal followed before the break when a six-man passing move allowed Ant Benvenga to slot home from close range and they sealed the win in the second half thanks to a penalty from Tommee Seaton.

The other side to taste victory away from home was Croxley, who enjoyed a 2-1 win over Fairfield thanks to goals from Thomas Hughes and Aaron Farrell.

West Herts beat Hemel Tudors 3-1 at home with two goals from Roger Lake and one from Ashley Bridewell.

The other side to win at home were Langleybury Cricket Club, who made it three wins from three games this season following a 3-2 triumph over Pig and Whistle. Greg Cook scored a brace supported by a single from Jamie Madden.

Both Bedmond and Rifle Volunteer Reserves went down 4-3 at home Dane End United and Ollys Athletic respectively.

Tedi Prushi, Harvey Dorboize, Jordan Davies scored the Bedmond goals, whilst a hat-trick from the Rifle’s Ben Goode was in vain.

Bricketwood Social lost 5-1 at home to Six Bells with the sole reward for their morning’s football coming from a Martin Sanseverino goal.

RD lost 3-1 at home to Grange United, with Elliott Myrants-Wilson scoring the hosts’ goal, while Old Danes Athletic suffered a 3-0 home defeat to The Snug Bar.

Two WSL sides couldn’t field sides for away trips, Oxhey Rangers and West Watford, whilst Compasses North and Oxhey Lions are through after their respective opponents folded before the games.

Croxley Community Centre’s tie against Riverside Corinthians was abandoned at half-time with them trailing 5-0 due to them not having enough fit players to continue.

Herts Sunday Junior Cup Round One

In the sole first round tie held over to the weekend, Hertfordshire Lions beat Bullys Crusaders 5-2 away from home.

Sam Crafts put them ahead early on before the home side equalised ten minutes before the break, but Tom Carroll restored the lead with a dribble and shot.

Crafts got his second of the game with a long-range lob in the second half and a fourth followed from Louis McNamara. The home side pulled one goal back from a disputed penalty before Jamie Balmer sealed the win with a shot from the edge of the box.

Premier Division

Chorleywood Club’s good start to the season continued with a 5-2 home win over Met Police Bushey, meaning they are the early pacesetters with seven points from their first three games in the top flight.

Met Police actually scored the first and final goals of the game through Dan Branch and Hassan Zeizale, but for most of the game they were unable to stop the home side, whose goals came thanks to a brace from Calum McCarroll and singles from Jamie Edwards, Michael East and Owen Wartsneby.

Champions Oakview made it two wins from two with an easy 6-0 victory over Rifle Volunteer.

Lee Armitt, Owen Deamer, Tom Kennedy, Tom Inch, Simeon Armstrong and Alfie Barratt were the men on target.

Reed Rangers also scored six as they beat Old Fullerians 6-2.

The home side’s goals came from a double by Sam Parker, but Fullers were outgunned by a brace apiece from Dominic David and George Hobson, with Chris Blunden and Lucas Gibbons also netting.

Rickmansworth Town struck seven as they beat Green Dragon 7-1.

Luke O’Malley got the sole Dragon goal of the game whilst Town’s efforts came from Entwhistle’s brace and one each from Budden, Wallace, Gibson, Mistretta and an own goal.

Division Three

Meriden came back from 3-0 down to take a point against Bell Rangers.

George Kus put Bell ahead in the first half and they looked to have the three points well and truly in the bag with two goals just after the restart from Max Halcomb and Matt Owens.

But Meriden battled back to take what had looked like an unlikely point thanks to Jamie Lee-Leslie, a stunning 40-yard goal from Ben Dunton before Aaron Crawford grabbed the equaliser.

Green Dragon Reserves had a productive morning with a 6-0 away win over Sun Postal Sports, with Alfie Palmer grabbing a hat-trick, while the others were scored by Marcus Montgomery, Scott Bain and Nathan Tobie.

Goals from Tom Herbert and Jack Robertson put Tudor Athletic ahead in the first half before Ripstone replied in the second period through Dan Churchman and Captain Matthew Sharkey to secure a 2-2 draw.

Division Four

FC Woodside look to be the clear favourites as they smashed eight goals past Woodlands Laurels, although the scoreline will give hope to the other teams in the division as they conceded four times. Tom Dettmer scored a double hat-trick along with a double from Dan Weimar.

AFC Green Machine beat Bushey Rangers by the odd goal in five.

Green Machine took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Max Pulfrey and Dan Perry, but when they were reduced to ten men with a red card, this allowed Bushey to equalise through Harrison Bath and David Smith before they had a man sent-off themselves. And it was Green Machine who won the battle of the ten men with Danny Roberts scoring the winner.

A single goal from Ardent’s Ross Parsons in the first half was enough to beat Inter.

Division Five

Batchworth defeated Garston Rangers 4-2, with Joe Brown grabbing a brace supported by singles from Cameron Murray and Dane Chamberlain.

Charlie Kimpton and Jordan Auston replied for Rangers.

P&P Social bounced back from their heavy County Cup defeat the previous week to make it two wins in the league after a 2-1 win over William Morris.

Goals from Billy Lobjoi and Reece Davies ensured the win for the home side, while Morris replied in the second half through Ben Wright.
