West Herts Hockey Club will look to improve their form after only one of their 12 teams won their matches last weekend.

Their ladies’ Third team triumphed 3-0 at home against Bedford Thirds in the Five Counties Premier Division while the others failed to bring home another win.

Two goals from Hayley McNeil and Lucy Matley’s goal helped the Thirds complete the triumph.

The men’s Firsts drew 2-2 with Wapping in the National Hockey League East Conference at the Lee Valley Hockey Centre.

Despite Stags’ efforts in attack, Wapping took the lead inside 27 minutes with a scrappy goal from Max Bowerman.

Stags’ high press game caught Wapping off guard and they netted two quickfire goals, one from Dan Webster plus a trademark reverse stick strike from Shea O’Sullivan, to put Stags ahead in the second half.

The visitors continued to apply pressure and looked to increase their advantage until Wapping levelled with a penalty flick with 15 minutes to play.

West Herts ladies Firsts will hope to get their first point in the Investec NHL East Conference against Chelmsford after losing 8-2 away at Wimbledon.

Wimbledon dominated all areas of the match with top displays from several internationally capped players.

Wimbledon, boasting several internationally-capped players, took an early lead when Cherry Seaborn found the net and they were soon 3-0 up after strikes from Lauren Seaman and Tamsyn Naylor.

Herts’ lack of composure up front cost them dearly as they failed to convert four penalty corners.

Their efforts in attack were finally rewarded after Amanda Coppel netted after 23 minutes.

Goalkeeper Jess Ollerhead made some fine saves but was unable to stop a well-aimed deflection from Rosie McPherson five minutes before half-time.

Miranda Hall scored West Herts’ second goal when she netted a penalty corner after 47 minutes before Wimbledon’s three goals in four minutes sealed the league newcomers’ fate.

The quickfire treble came from Seaborn, Harriet Naismith and Nicola Lloyd before McPherson rubbed salt into the wounds with the eighth goal of the match.

The men’s Seconds were left frustrated after a 1-1 draw against visitors Blueharts.

Potters Bar were again victorious as their first team beat the Stags Thirds 2-0.

The Fourths battled superbly as they came back to draw 3-3 against Rickmansworth Firsts.

The men’s Fifths will be wanting to take the positives out of their 4-3 defeat to St Albans Sixths.

The Sixths also suffered a 2-1 defeat to St Albans Fifths with Suraj Kukaidia on target, while the Sevenths lost 2-1 at home to Southgate Adelaide Thirds.

The ladies’ Seconds went down 2-0 at Welwyn Garden City, while the Fourths had to deal with a bitter blow in a hard-fought Five Counties Division Two match against Saffron Walden Fourths.

A goal in the last five minutes from Saffron cancelled skipper Sheena Hambleton’s equaliser for the visitors after Rachel Aldridge had scored twice in the 4-3 defeat Joe Sands, meanwhile, got the only goal for West Herts Fifths in the early game at New Field as they were edged out 2-1 by visitors Potters Bar.
