West Herts men picked up their first Conference East victory of the season after coming from behind to beat a strong Teddington side 2-1 in dramatic fashion on Sunday.

Teddington opened the scoring on 28 minutes after a swift counter-attack and a strong reverse stick finish by Matt Daly broke the deadlock.

The Stags did not let their heads drop though, and managed to level just before the break when Matt Sears deflected past the keeper from two yards out to claim a debut goal.

After the break, Teddington received a yellow card which allowed their opponents to press and although chances came the scores remained level until Dan Webster.

The same joy cannot be said for West Herts ladies, who are still seeking their first triumph after losing 6-4 at home to Chelmsford.

Sophie Green netted after two minutes for the away side, meaning it was the third game in a row Herts have found themselves down from an early breakaway.

But they were able to get themselves back on level terms inside ten minutes when Anna Coppel finished off a good attacking move.

Chelmsford’s Victoria Clark then went onto score a brace which was cancelled out by Jen Black and Evie Eyles.

The away side regained the lead once again in the 44th minute only for Kate Robinson to find yet another equaliser six minutes later.

With the game on a knife edge, Herts had a great chance to take advantage of their ten-man opponents but failed to do so and once Chelmsford were back to full strength Robinson and Kate Maxey scored to take all three points.

The men’s Seconds are still searching for their first East Premier B win after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Ipswich & East Suffolk.

But the ladies Seconds produced a comeback performance as they recovered from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Shefford & Sandy to grab their first point of the season.

The club’s Under-12s have been celebrating after being crowned champions of Chiltern League Division Three.

Three victories on Sunday with seven goals scored left them unbeaten and over the course of their mini league they recorded five wins, one draw and scored 16, conceding only once.

West Herts Under-16 boys beat Aylesbury 8-6, having started the brighter of the two sides in what was to be a highly-contested match.

The young Stags were trailing 5-4 at the interval, but after equalising and then taking the lead early in the second half they never looked back.

The Under-14s also won their match 7-6 against a strong St Albans side, fighting back from 5-2 down.

St Albans were confined to a single goal in the second period as their opponents added three to hold on for a thrilling victory as Suleimaan Manzoor claimed a hat-trick.
