Fullerians produced a better all-round display as they gained a bonus point in their 37-23 loss to Letchworth in London One North on Saturday.

Letchworth opened strongly with two tries in quick succession, one with a forward pass that went unnoticed and the other due to the weak tackling of the Fullers’ defence.

But the away side kept going through the phases and scored a try out wide as Drew Horne produced two good dummies to go around the winger and score, with the resulting conversion going wide.

Fullers then scored a penalty but three more went begging to leave them 14-8 down at the break.

The home side scored again after the ball bounced from a chip, but Fullers never gave up, kicking for the corner and driving from the lineout for second row Craig Smith to score.

George Harvey added another try to narrow the scores further, only for some poor tackling to let Letchworth in again.

South was to score again from a lineout to secure the bonus point after Letchworth were reduced to 14 men.
