Matt Wallace says the opportunity to join Chubby Chandler’s stable of golfing stars at International Sports Management (ISM) is “very big” and a "great privilege" as he sets his sights on signing off a triumphant year on the Alps Tour with another victory.

It was announced on Saturday that the leading sports management firm had made the 26-year-old Moor Park Golf Club professional the latest addition to a list of charges that includes Masters champion Danny Willett, Matt Fitzpatrick and Lee Westwood, whose latest result was third place at the British Masters at The Grove on Sunday.

Wallace, who confirmed the move to ISM does not affect his relationship with Moor Park, is hoping it will open doors and allow him to concentrate on building on the considerable strides he has made on the course this year.

“The opportunity of being able to be represented by a management company of ISM's quality is very big,” the 26-year-old Pinner-based player told the Watford Observer. “They have many superstar golfers and a large amount of experience on and off the golf course.

“They will be able to potentially get me into European Tour events that I can’t get myself into through rankings etc. They will be able to find me sponsorship and will also look after everything off course so I can concentrate primarily on the golf.

“ISM are one of the most successful management companies in the world, just look at their stable; Westwood, Willett, (Darren) Clarke, (Louis) Oosthuizen, Fitzpatrick, (David) Horsey and many more. It’s a great privilege to be approached to sign with them. I had many offers but I chose ISM for the obvious reasons and personal reasons too.”

Having finished in a share of fourth at the Terre dei Consoli Open in his last tournament – Wallace’s best result on the Challenge Tour to date – he has returned to Italy this week for the Alps Tour Grand Final, which gets under way tomorrow.

The Moor Park professional heads into the event at Miglianico Golf and Country Club more than 15,000 points ahead in the tour’s Order of Merit after a superb season that has yielded a historic five consecutive victories and seen him not finish below fourth place in the eight events he’s played.

Wallace's previous Challenge Tour result show provide confidence in itself, but it is further boosted because he feels his play dropped below its usual standards.

He explained: “I had a great result in Italy last week but my game wasn't where it has been most of the year. So that’s a good sign.

“I practiced hard this week on what I felt went wrong in Italy - mainly driver. I’m feeling good about this week and hopefully I can execute what I've practiced in the lead up to this event.

“It would mean a lot to me to win,” he added. “Every event I aim to win otherwise there’s no point turning up. I’d love to cap off my Alps Tour year with a win.”

Wallace though, was able to take time out of preparing for his trip to Italy to watch club-mate Callum Shinkwin compete at the British Masters on Friday and Saturday.

The 23-year-old Bushey professional only found out he was playing on Thursday morning when he was called up as late replacement for Thomas Bjorn and Wallace said: “It was great to see him in the event. He had a great crowd following him and he did really well to make the cut with no preparation and the pressure of being the local boy.

“You can see what happened to [tournament host] Luke Donald [who didn’t make the cut] so Callum did really well. He did a great job.”
