Sun Sports went through to the next round of the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division Cup after they defeated Hadley FC on penalties on Tuesday.

The game had to head to extra time after it ended 1-1.

Sun opened the scoring late on in the second half as Jack Johnson broke the deadlock.

But they did not hold onto their lead for long as nine minutes later Tyrone Mulholland equalised to take the game into penalties.

Hadley’s Harry Sedgley’s shot was saved by the Sun keeper which allowed Sports to win the game 5-4 in the shootout.

In the Buildbase FA Vase, Sun Sports progressed to the second round after they beat Peterborough Northern Star.

Dom David scored two with Chris Blunden also getting on the scoresheet as PNS scored a mere consolation goal.

It was also good news for Leverstock Green as they won 2-1 over Bedford in the SSML Challenge Trophy at Pancake Lane.

Curtis Donaldson opened the scoring in the first five minutes with Bedford’s Aaron Jarvis levelling the score.

But Leverstock stepped up their work rate in the second and created more chances than their opponents.

They were given their just rewards six minutes after the hour mark as Karl Davidson pounced on a Donaldson corner and blasted the loose ball home.

Like Sun, Green have continued their run in the Vase after Donaldson helped them to a 7-3 win as he scored a hat-trick against Thrapston Town.

It was also a clean sweep for Tring Athletic as they progressed in the Vase and Premier Division Cup.

Tring scored a goal in each half to tame the London Tigers.

Ryan Sturges followed up Chris Vardy’s blocked shot in the opening quarter of the first half.

The home side had a good chance to equalise in the second half but failed to capitalise on their opportunities.

Tring wrapped up the win in the final stages as Sam Jolliffe converted from the penalty spot.

And in the Vase it took only one goal for them to seal the victory over Walsham Le Willows last weekend to play in the second round proper.

George Carbery’s flick allowed Adam Scotcher to beat the offside trap and thump the ball past the keeper for his second goal of the season.

And Berkhamsted are also going strong in the cups as they are still contenders in three.

The Comrades have been drawn Hullbridge Sports in the second round of the Vase.

In the quarter-final of the Premier Division Cup Berko play Wembley before taking on Oxhey Jets in the Herts Charity Shield in December.
