Fullerians fell to a 25-12 defeat at home to North Walsham on Saturday as the second half proved to be their downfall in their London One North clash.

Walsham missed an early penalty to open the scoring but after both teams traded territory it was the away team who broke the deadlock.

Their full-back found some space and jinked through a couple of defenders out wide to offload to his winger, who managed to touch down in the corner but they missed their subsequent conversion.

Fullers tried to build their phases into Walsham’s half but couldn’t hold onto the ball for long enough and conceded numerous penalties.

Craig Smith received a yellow card and Walsham ended the half with a penalty, taking the score to 8-0.

The second half opened up as fatigue set in and after a few penalties to the home side and a yellow card for Walsham the pressure paid off.

Dan Evans passed out wide and the ball was fed through to Damien Le Roux who scored in the corner as Evans added the conversion.

But Walsham did not give in and followed up with a second try after 22 phases of attack as their Number 8 broke through a missed tackle and offloaded to their centre and this time the conversion was successful to take the score to 15-7.

Fullers started to lose discipline and after a fast ball and some good footwork from Walsham’s full-back, the ball was passed out quickly to their centre to score their third try.

There was a slight ray of light for Fullerians as the away side went down to 14 men after their Number 8 was red carded.

However, the hosts could not capitalise on their opportunity despite gaining another try from a driving maul as the conversion was missed in front of the posts.

From the last play, a wide pass was intercepted by Walsham’s centre to go over in the corner.
